![]() The only problem I have had is with flare, have had to use my hand to block the sun even when using the OEM lens hood. I have used it both on my Sony a380 and on my Minolta Maxxum bodies color is excellent, and at 18mm it is much sharper than any of the Sony lenses I have had. I've posted a bunch of photos using my A7 and A7RII on DPReview the A7RII ones are at īought this lens on eBay because I wanted a lower-light capable lens but still wanted the wide-angle capabilities, and haven't been disappointed. Incidentally, no problems with AF using the LA-EA4 - at least not after I cleaned the lens contacts with a pencil eraser. I know that doesn't sound like the other reviews here, but that's what I'm seeing - so maybe it's a Q/C thing or maybe Quantaray branded ones are different? Anyway, price/performance is outstanding for a FF ultrawide zoom. ![]() maybe not enough for 24MP APS-C, but it is doing fine on 42MP FF. ![]() However, autolevels brings up the contrast and reveals excellent resolution across FF even wide open. I have the identical Quantaray-branded version of this lens.Īlthough the glass seems clean, contrast is very low and it gives "clumpy" specular points and veiling flare - it would be terrible on film. Veiling flare, not-very close focus, some purple SA Price, FF ultrawide, good resolution, modest distortion, not much CA Various Sigma and Minolta wide zooms, e.g., baby beercan There are better ultra wide lenses out there but for 10-20 times the price which I think is ridiculous. The lens is not isolated so do not use it arround a lot of dust or rain. I do not have hood for it and I am intending to buy one. I used my hand to shade and had better pictures. Flear is visible if you take picture against sun but this is ultra wide lens and I expected this to happen. Good and correct AF on day light and insight but is slow lens. The colours are not to my taste but I easily corrected it on camera settings. I bought this lens because is extra wide on full frame and accually I am happy to keep it. The colours are not worm enough like Minolta's one
